In a heartwarming tale of triumph over adversity, Sitaram Nayak, a young boy from the remote village of Chancharapalli in Northern Odisha, has risen above financial challenges to pursue his dreams.
With the unwavering support of an organization dedicated to empowering rural communities, Sitaram’s journey from a humble village to pursuing higher education in a Commonwealth country is nothing short of inspiring.
Born into a family of farmers, Sitaram faced significant financial hardships that made it difficult for him to pursue his dreams of education. The lack of access to proper infrastructure in his village initially hindered his path. However, with the advent of the Pradhan Mantri Gramya Sadak Yojana, hope arrived in Chancharapalli, as the village was finally connected by a road. Sitaram completed his initial education in a government school, where his passion for science and innovation began to shine.
Sitaram’s life took a transformative turn when he joined Gram Vikas Vidya Vihar, an organization committed to providing education and skills training to rural and tribal areas. Under the mentorship of Sameer Sir, an SBI fellow, Sitaram’s passion for science grew exponentially. Alongside a friend, he set up an Innovation Lab, where they used waste materials to create projects and real-world solutions. This marked the beginning of Sitaram’s journey as a young problem-solver and innovator.
Despite facing personal distractions and challenges, Sitaram’s determination to achieve his dreams remained unwavering. Sameer Sir’s guidance and support played a crucial role in honing Sitaram’s problem-solving mindset, leading to various awards and the successful setup of an Atal Tinkering Lab.
Overcoming financial constraints, Sitaram’s dream of pursuing engineering persisted. Taking a gap year, he explored various ventures, including a fast-food stall and labour work, in pursuit of his dreams. After facing several setbacks, Sitaram’s relentless efforts paid off, and he secured admission to an engineering college.
Despite facing numerous challenges, Sitaram’s determination and passion propelled him forward. Now in the 1st year of B.Tech in Computer Science, he is diligently working to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge. Sitaram aspires to make a meaningful impact on society, giving back to his community and contributing to the betterment of the Commonwealth and beyond.
