CYPAN celebrates its 10th Anniversary at Conference in Malaysia

The Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (CYPAN) proudly participated in the 5th Global Youth Work Conference, held from November 17–19, 2025 at the International Youth Centre (IYC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The conference—convened by the Commonwealth Secretariat together with the Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers Associations (CAYWA) and Universiti Putra Malaysia—brought together youth leaders, policymakers, and practitioners from across the Commonwealth.

As part of this landmark gathering, CYPAN marked its 10th Anniversary with a dedicated side event. Representing CYPAN were:

            •          Fathima Haneekah Rahil, Global Coordinator

            •          Fakhar Jabran, Deputy Chairperson

            •          Nazri Mohammed , Lead for Membership & Engagement

            •          Pavitran Pavi, CYPAN Country Representative for Malaysia, who also joined the panel discussions moderated by Sushil Ram, Advisor – Youth Development, Social Policy Development. Commonwealth Secretariat.

The CYPAN side event featured a thematic dialogue on “Peace In a Changing World: A Decade of Youth Lead Impact .”

The conference opened with remarks from Assistant Secretary-General – Luis Franceski of the Commonwealth Secretariat, followed by insights from Sushil Ram, and Saima Majeed, Youth Officer, Social Policer Development – Youth.

Their presence reinforced the Commonwealth’s continued commitment to youth leadership, peacebuilding, and inclusive development.

The sessions saw vibrant participation from delegates representing all regions of the Commonwealth, reflecting shared aspirations for stronger youth work practice, policy influence, and intergenerational collaboration.

CYPAN extends its gratitude to the Commonwealth Secretariat, partners, and the global youth community for their continued support as we celebrate a decade of advancing peace, dialogue, and youth empowerment across the Commonwealth and beyond.
