Commonwealth Correspondent’s Environmental Passion Earns Her Erasmus Mundus Award
August 31A Commonwealth Correspondent from Ghana has been awarded the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Scholarship for her postgraduate studies.
Ewura Adwoa Adjeibea Larbi has received the European Union-funded fellowship to pursue a joint master’s in Global Change Ecology and Biodiversity Management at four universities across the European Union, beginning September 2025.
A dedicated advocate for the environment, Ewura was awarded the competitive fellowship in recognition of her academic potential and dedication to the field of Global Environment and Development.

Ewura told YourCommonwealth she is grateful and excited to have won the scholarship.
“No man lights a lamp and keeps it under a bushel. I am beyond grateful and honored to shine along with other lights in God’s magnificent sky, wide enough for all of us.
“It initially felt like an impossible dream until it actually happened. And now instead of seeing this as an insurmountable pressure to make my community and mentors proud, I welcome this challenge as proof that there is no one box big enough to contain anyone.
“More importantly, I’m excited to buttress my environmental advocacy with updated skills and innovative solutions.”

Since 2021, Ewura has used her platform on YourCommonwealth to draw attention to environmental concerns in her home country. Her publications include:
- World Wildlife Day: A Prospective Grandmother’s Hope
- Is Green Ghana Day enough to save the environment?
- Inversely Proportional: Ghanaians’ Faith and the State of the Environment
- From Clicks to Bricks; Youth Resilience in Nation-Building
- The Plateau we expected; A Reflection on Galamsey, Governance, and Broken Promises
The Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Scholarship fully funds a student’s studies in a specialized, interdisciplinary master’s program, covering academic costs, travel, and living expenses.
