On Commonwealth Day, Truly Verify Africa pioneered a revolution!
The virtual event themed “Verify, Innovate, Transform” brought together industry leaders, AI experts, and young changemakers to reshape Africa’s approach to information integrity.
From expert-led discussions on AI-powered verification to hands-on demonstrations of cutting-edge fact-checking tools, attendees gained invaluable insights into combating misinformation. The networking opportunities were a game-changer, connecting visionaries committed to Africa’s digital future.
The keynote speaker, Daniel Nwaeze, A Chevening Alumni and community manager, One World Africa delivered a powerful address on AI’s role in creating information integrity. We are not oblivious to the adverse effect of disinformation propaganda, but the good news is the opportunity AI presents to gaining critical media information literacy skills and deploying same for social good.
The panel session was very enlightening as the discussion delved further into the role of AI Tools in face checking, the importance of digital literacy for youth and strategies to build digital resilience.
The panel speakers included Adeyemi Jeremiah, Product Manager, Trully Verify Africa and Mercy Ajibade, Tech Advisor, SQI, College of ICT and moderated by Ruhamah Ifere, Founder, Trully Verify Africa.
Beyond the event, participants unlocked access to the Commonwealth AI Academy, where they are now exploring courses on Generative AI, Responsible AI, Web 3.0, and Digital Readiness. These fully funded learning experiences are equipping Africa’s next generation of AI pioneers.
